FOCUS!
I used to run track in school and I remember the vigorous training we went through before a meet. Our track conditioning was intense. We use to run for miles and miles and I was a sprint runner and could not understand why I had to run so long. My average race was over in less than a minute-two at the most. My coach told me that I had to run twenty times longer than my average race to build endurance and strength! He said it was apart of my conditioning. I have to train my body to endure, to press, to push!
After our conditions, my entire body would ache. It seemed like we ran forever but it made me stronger. I still have that tone in my arms and legs 25 years later! We ran in the snow, rain, sleet, hail, whatever. He never cancelled our conditions or our meets. I remember we were trained to accomplish our objectives. It did not matter what the elements were. It did not matter if we were tired or if our bodies ached. My coach did not allow any outside influences or factors to interfere with our training.
Today, I realized that I need to re-adapt that mindset. I have been so distracted with outside factors and issues I allowed myself to lose focus. It is so easy to do but today, I cement my eyes on the prize. I have the baton in my hand and all I can see is the mark in front of me. I am now in position. I have to finish my race. Ready, set, GO!
